Bad Mama

Tuesday, March 8, 2011
I am a  bad mother.  Poor, little Rose turned 17 last Monday, and I didn't post anything about her.  No cakes, parties or anything!!

Ignore the hair on mommy!
Emma took a few pictures that day, me lying on the couch and Rosie butting up against my head.  That was always her favorite position at night, in my hair.  That is when she was able to jump up on the bed.

We took Rosie to the vet on Saturday.  She had the itchies again along her spine.  She got her miracle shot which also helps her arthritis that is in her hips and right leg.  So now she is walking, jumping up more, and oddly enough, being extremely vocal.  My mother has been getting serenaded at all hours of the night.  I don't know if she wants mom to play her, feed her, or just let her roam around her house.

Rosie is down to 8.3 pounds.  I knew she was loosing weight, and have been worried, but I was still shocked when I heard her weight.  She is always at her dish eating The vet says she is fine, no diabetes or anything like that.  Next month she'll go in for more blood work to check her thyroid.  That may be why she is always hungry.  Please purr for her.  I know she is old, but she is my baby.

Belated happy birthday, Rosie! Of course we're purring hard for you. If you're hyper-thyroid, it's easy enough to treat with methimazole, either via pill or transdermal gel, though it can take a bit to sort out the right dose. Paws crossed for you!

Shame on you mommy! Happy belated Birthday sweet Rosie.
Cindy, how much weight has she lost? I hope she is okay. Pearlene has low thyroid and has lost weight by taking her medcine.

I hope she is eating good. wow! 17 years old. I know how you feel they are like our children. Especially when we have them for such a long time.

I love her kitty picture.

Happy Belated Birthday, Rosie! I didn't know you were older than me. I'll be 16 in September. I've lost some weight too, but all of my bloodwork is fine. Sending you purrs that your bloodwork is okay.

Well, it is forgivable not to have a great fuss for an elderly girl like Rosie. My, goodness, 17 is quite a spectacular age. She certainly doesn't "look it". Ha, ha - cats don't get wrinkles like humans do.

Happy birthday Rosie. M says you should have thyroid checked. If it is that, it's easly helped by medication. If you refuse to be medicated, you can get the kind of med that your ooman rubs in your ear once a day. M used dat stuff on the kitty before me for about 5 years. Your ooman has to wear rubber gloves tho, otherwise she'll get the medicine too.

Well, Happy Belated 17th Birthday, Rosie! You sure were an adorable kitten. And, of course, you're still adorable, and don't look a day over 9.

We're purring for you to feel better soon, and that there's nothing wrong with your bloods.

I'm late, too, Rosie. Even if we didn't make a big fuss for your birthday, we did have a nice little birthday for you. And we know you don't like TOO much of a fuss - as long as we keep telling you how pretty you are and keep scratching those ears.

It seems like yesterday when we first brought you home.

Oh sweet Rosie, Emily and I will purr and pray for your blood work to come out well. I'm sure you had a good birthday with your family all around, telling you what a good kitty you are. We wish you lots of love and purrs!
Smile today. :)
